Stability requirements (Criteria for the selection of door glass)
We can use glass doors as interior and exterior doors, for example as front doors, patio doors or shop doors. If they are a connecting door to the outside world, we must design them to be particularly stable and secure.
In spite of the visually slight effect, all-glass door leaves have to withstand a lot due to their weight alone, which can therefore even lower in the course of their use, especially under heavy loads.
Therefore, when purchasing a glass door, you have the choice between differently stable and heavy glasses from which it is made. This is a criteria for the selection of door glass. It is not just the look of the glass doors that makes a difference, but also the glass itself: a distinction is made between conventional glass and safety glass doors, for example. The latter is particularly unbreakable.
Security glass types
All-glass doors in the interior must meet the high security requirements and must be made of appropriate safety glass. Incidentally, it is important to have household insurance in this context, which also covers damage to the glass door. Otherwise, it can quickly become expensive.
Laminated safety glass doors:
Glass doors made of laminated safety glass consist of a glass layer system for which at least two panes of glass and a special, elastic, tear-resistant film or casting resin are connected in between. The advantage of this composite pane is that if the glass door breaks, the crumbly shards stick to the film.
