The front door is one of the most demanding components of any house facade. On the one hand, it must insulate heat and noise, provide security against attempted break-ins and serve as a visual flagship for the house – on the other hand, it should also be easy for the residents to open and maintain. Modern aluminum doors meet all these requirements with ease: They protect against wind and weather, are an almost insurmountable obstacle for burglars and create a refreshingly modern and individually designed exterior.
Thermal insulation and energy efficiency in modern aluminum front doors
Aluminum is a light metal – this means that pure aluminum house doors tend to conduct rather than insulate heat. Even production in the multi-chamber system would still have to struggle with thermal bridges, which would cause a relatively high loss of energy.
Fortunately, modern aluminum house doors are always equipped with a thermally insulating panel to ensure high energy efficiency. The actual thermal insulation of this type of door is therefore primarily based on its filling.
However, many models also contain design elements such as a plastic threshold or a panel with a leaf-covering design. These can also improve the door’s insulating properties.
