What is Tempered glass ?

Decorative glasses for shower, partition and interior door

These glasses have undergone a specific heat treatment in a quenching furnace. The quenching operation consists in the sudden cooling of a glass which has been preheated to more than 600 degrees. This technique makes it possible to greatly increase its mechanical strength or its resistance to thermal shock. Its fragmentation into several small, slightly sharp pieces, in the event of violent impact, makes it possible to consider this glass as a security product in many applications.

DESCRIPTION:

Tempered glass has its modified properties, it becomes 4 times stronger.

After quenching, it can never be cut or shaped.

APPLICATION:

Tempered glass is a safety glass. In case of breakage, it breaks up into small pieces that are not sharp.

Tempered glass is used indoors and outdoors for:

Furniture: Shelf, table top, shower door, bath screen, Back splash, glass for fireplace insert (vitroceramic)

The building: Façade, showcase, balcony separation

The arrangement: Partition, door, suspended door

Chimney inserts: Glass called glass-ceramic, which is heat-resistant.

ADVANTAGE:

Tempered glass is a safety glass that retains its basic qualities in terms of optical and acoustic properties.

A large part of the glazing families (single glazing, cast / printed glazing, tinted glazing) can be tempered to become 4 times stronger.

It has superior strengths to mechanical stresses (tightening of fasteners …), thermal shock, and allows for large glazed surfaces (assembled by means of metal elements).
